Environmental data interpretation and assessment is at the core of C&R Consulting expertise, and we have become renowned for our ability to assess, evaluate and interpret environmental, geochemical and mineralogical analytical results in the context of local conditions and under the requirements of Environmental Legislation, Regulations and Guidelines. We have a well-earned reputation for offering cost effective solutions to complex environmental issues, and our problem solving expertise has been sought by large international and national companies, as well as by regional Government Agencies and Institutions, and Private Industry.

Our expertise in this area is based on our comprehensive understanding of field conditions, ecosystems and their interactions, especially in tropical environments. This understanding has been gained through many years of lecturing, researching, and working hands-on in the field. We are experienced in assessing responses of environmental systems to both frequently occurring events and extreme climatic events (e.g. cyclones and high intensity rainfall events). We are familiar with the interpretation of these effects in urban tropical, tropical agricultural and tropical mine site situations, as well as in numerous other environments. This permits us to propose realistic and economic solutions that allow world-class infrastructure developments in tropical regions.
The completion of an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is an essential step in the approval of many new developments, assessable by various Referral and Concurrence Agencies including: Environmental Protection Agency (EPA); Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries (DPI&F); and Department of Natural Resources and Mines (DNR&M). C&R Consulting fully understand the development process and Environmental Legislation and Compliance requirements involved, learned from numerous projects, including a large private Cattle Feedlot; Sand and Gravel Extraction sites; a Great Barrier Reef Research Station; and various private developments within a World Heritage Area.

Compliance Audits and Monitoring are required to assess the performance of many projects at varying stages of completion; assess resource use efficiency; and for assessing management practices. C&R Consulting has extensive experience in Environmental Management and Auditing, and can provide services such as Triple Bottom Line Assessments and Ecological Sustainability Assessments.
Examples of Past Projects include: Investigation into acid rock drainage, mine site contamination and water quality and hydrogeology at Atlas Mines (Phillippines); Investigations into sediment quality, remediation, disposal options, bioavailability and groundwater hydrology associated with contaminated sediment ponds for Townsville Port Authority; Investigations into runoff water quality and soil quality from genetically and non-genetically modified cotton for Monsanto; Chemical sources studies including investigations into the extent to which flows from specific agricultural areas and point sources can be identified; Decontamination and in situ bioremediation for soils contaminated with polycyclic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and water quality evaluation in saline and freshwater lakes; Investigations into shallow groundwater quality and flow processes. Proposed site-specific water quality standards for Horseshoe Bay, Magnetic Island; and Investigation into water quality and contaminant sources in a North Mara mine, Tanzania.
